SAVANNAH SCHROLL GUZ holds a Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. In 1997-1998, she was a Fulbright Scholar and worked as a correspondence translator for Bavaria's Prince von Hohenzollern.
Savannah is now a monthly columnist for Library Journal, where she reviews newly-released reference guides. Previously, her essays, reviews, and cultural criticism have appeared in Sculpture, ZMag, The European Journal of Cultural Studies, Modernism/Modernity, Bitch Magazine, Popmatters, DRAFT Magazine, and Pittsburgh City Paper. She teaches English at West Virginia Northern Community College and is co-founder of Pittsburgh's The New Yinzer Presents Reading Series. She is The New Yinzer's fiction editor and is part of the 2010 Pittsburgh Small Press Fest steering committee. In January 2010, she and husband Michael Guz will launch the socially and politically-conscious independent press Literary Outlaw (www.literaryoutlaw.com) with the publication of a photographic portfolio that details the impact of gambling culture in West Virginia’s northern panhandle.
Savannah is author of the short story collections, The Famous & The Anonymous (2004) and American Soma (2009). She also edited the theme-based fiction anthology, Consumed: Women on Excess (2005). Her stories have been nominated for a Pushcart and a Storysouth Million Writers Award. She and husband Michael homestead and hobby farm in Weirton, WV and often sleep over in nearby Pittsburgh, PA.
