Susan Henderson started LitPark in 2006 with the goal of building a supportive community for writers. She asked monthly questions intended to bond and inspire writers with storytelling. She interviewed writers from the unknown to the debut to Neil Gaiman and Lemony Snicket. But what she didn't realize she was doing was chronicling the ups and downs of writing and submitting her novel, THE RUBY CUP, which will be published by Harper Collins in September 2010. Follow the peaks and valleys of that process—the writer's block, the false hope, the face-on-the-floor depression, and the hard work of creating a novel. She hopes this is helpful, especially to those of you in the face-on-the-floor stage. You may be closer than you think!

So here is The Evolution of the Book and a look inside the writer's office as she edits her novel.

Pierre Berg spent 18 months as a prisoner in a Nazi death camp, and wrote down his story not long after his escape. In his first-ever interview, Pierre gives his unromantic view of survival, tells how he makes use of the serial number tattooed on his arm, and talks about trying to find a publisher for his memoir.

When this interview first ran on LitPark, Pierre was searching for a publisher. A couple month's later, he had one, and his book, SCHEISSHAUS LUCK: SURVIVING THE UNSPEAKABLE IN AUSCHWITZ AND DORA, is now available.

Writers of genre fiction often criticize literary fiction writing as being slow-paced, plotless navel-gazing. Writers of literary fiction often criticize genre writing as being low-brow, and soley focused on plot. Susan Henderson, a lifelong lover of literary fiction, asks bestselling thriller writers David Morrell, Gayle Lynds, Barry Eisler, and Karen Dionne to talk about this age-old debate.
